686 WORDS PER WEEK is Travis Naughton's third book and second collection of columns originally published in the Boone County Journal, a weekly newspaper serving several communities in mid-Missouri.Originally from the sleepy Mississippi River town of Hannibal, Missouri, the childhood home of writers Samuel Langhorne Clemens and Melissa Scholes Young, Naughton currently resides closer to the banks of the Missouri River with his wife and three children. The author's family, and the remarkable life he has created for himself in his adopted hometown of Ashland, Missouri, provide ample material for his weekly columns which, in turn, provide readers with an entertaining and thought-provoking mix of humorous, poignant, and often ridiculous vignettes.
