Evolution Island: A Positronic Book (Hardback)

A rejected scientist, a forbidden experiment, and an island where evolution has become a weapon: Edmond Hamilton's Evolution Island is classic pulp science fiction at full speed. When a brilliant but discredited researcher turns his theories against the world that mocked him, scientific discovery becomes a threat rather than a triumph. What begins as speculation about life, change, and biological possibility becomes a race against danger in a place where nature itself has been violently accelerated.Hamilton builds the story around one of early science fiction's great anxieties: what happens when human ambition seizes control of forces it does not fully understand. The result is a compact tale of scientific obsession, revenge, monstrous transformation, and escalating peril, written with the direct energy that made magazine science fiction a home for bold ideas and urgent adventure. Island isolation, experimental evolution, and the menace of unchecked intellect combine in a story suited to readers of vintage SF, weird science, lost-world adventure, and early pulp speculation.First published in Weird Tales in 1927, Evolution Island shows Hamilton near the beginning of a long career that would help shape space opera, cosmic adventure, and American science fiction. This Positronic edition presents an early work of speculative adventure for readers interested in classic science fiction, mad scientists, biological horror, island danger, pulp magazines, and the imaginative roots of modern genre fiction.
