Golden is a story about deciding ... and remembering. About looking back on a life that had its full share of hard times and heartaches, of graces and blessings.-It's the story of a boy orphaned at fifteen, heading across the country to attend his sophomore through senior years at an upper-crust boarding school. Its lone charity case. A time of deep friendship ... and teenage venom.-It's the story of an eighteen-year-old enlisting in the Army and going to Vietnam to avenge his father's being killed in action there. A time of comradeship ... and death.-It's the story of a twenty-year-old vet returning to civilian life. A time of first love, lost love ... and the long-term effects of combat.-It's the story-the autobiographical life review-of sixty-eight-year-old John Eastman. Now a retired mail carrier. Never married, no children, not in great health. Undecided about attending the fiftieth reunion of the Brookfield Washington Academy Class of 1969. A couple guys he'd like to see ... more than a few, no way.Golden is one person's story, with universal truths that are a part of all our stories.
