KANJI PRACTICE WORKBOOK The Japanese art of writing kanji ((漢字), hiragana, or katakana characters is beautiful and precise. This notebook contains 120 sheets of genkō yōshi paper, also called genkouyoushi or genkoyoshi paper (原稿用紙, manuscript paper). Each sheet has 10 columns of 20 squares to practice Japanese lettering, the most common size. Each large square can hold one Japanese character and is divided into four quadrants to guide the correct positioning of the elements of the character. It is also the main form of rule used by Taiwanese students when writing Taiwanese Mandarin, where it is called 原稿紙 (pinyin: yuángǎo zhǐ).
