300 years after the completion of Antoine Galland's translation of Les mille et une nuits into French, the first European edition of the Arabian Nights, this compendium brings together for the first time all the stories from the Arabian Nights that were translated into Scottish Gaelic by the Reverend Iain MacRuairidh at the end of the 19th century, many of which have never before been published in book form. From Ali Baba to Aladdin, Sinbad the Sailor to the Magic Horse, this carefully proofed and newly typeset Akerbeltz edition will finally give Scottish Gaelic readers the opportunity to access many of the tales which, in spite of the many questions surrounding their origins and content, have played a significant part in the European perception of the Middle East.
