In this new collection of contemporary 14-line sonnets, Lito Tejada-Flores takes a personal and often provocative look at four extremely challenging years. From politics to the pandemic nothing was easy, nothing went as planned, as we would have liked. But from his twin homes, high in the Colorado Rockies and on the shore of a glacial lake in the Andes of Chilean Patagonia, Lito looks for, and finds the other side of a fraught period-the restorative beauty of nature and wild landscapes, the endless consolation and delight of a life-long love affair with the right person, the endless paradoxical twists of history, science and pure speculation. In Sonnets for Dark Times, Lito has found as much to celebrate as to mourn in these Dark Times, and he does both with an imaginative and unexpected use of language.
