VELVET SCAR is a love story similar in plot to Edna Ferber's Giant (rugged Westerner meets Eastern socialite). He is aggressive and powerful, she at the lowest point of her life. Shelby Collins' is raised on 38,000-acre ranch on the high plains of Colorado. Maggy, the fourteen-year-old granddaughter of the Mexican housekeeper who becomes his first love, is exiled for becoming too close. Shelby, devastated, searches for months before leaving for college. Angela Seder, a pampered Eastern socialite, suffering from a failed marriage to a gay man, meets Shelby, the antithesis of every man she has ever known. A whirlwind romance follows. Readers will be delighted and devastated as the stories of two thrilling love stories unfold.
