More than ever, Americans are struggling with the disparities of racism, the displacement of identities, and the rapid deaths-piling by the thousands-caused by drug addiction. Michael Weathers is trying to survive his first seven days of training as a server in a well-established neighborhood restaurant. Along his journey, the reader discovers the underlining causes of his depression and his developing substance abuse, as well as the blatant prejudices he faces daily. Waiting Face showcases the remarkable story of a young man's desperate search for his place in society. How big of a price is Michael willing to pay to finally obtain an identity? The answer lies within this fast-paced thrill ride revolving around addiction, mental health, and the fight to "belong".Content Advisory: This book is intended for mature audiences and contains explicit sexual activity.
